I painted this for my son. I started a collection of lions for him when he was just a little boy. We would read and watch the Chronicles of Narnia together. It was very special to us, and I wanted to give him something from me for his lion collection.
"'Safe?' said Mr. Beaver...'Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. but he's good. He's the King, I tell you.'"
"'When a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards.'"
--The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

For a season, I worked with seniors as an Activity Director, part of my job was to take them on field trips that would get them out and give them a change of scenery. One trip I planned was to a steam engine train at the New Hope Valley Railway near my home.
When we boarded the train, everyone picked a place in the passenger car, but this sweet lady went by herself to the back of the train, and chose a seat in the caboose. She sat down and looked out the window. Her face was highlighted by the sun...and her hand on the window seemed to be reaching out. It touched me. This woman had been through much in her life, a school teacher for 30 years, who, after retirement, suffered a severe stroke that cause her to have to re-learn everything. But through it all, she kept such a sweet positive joyful spirit, continuously praising the Lord.
She looked especially beautiful this day, and I was blessed to capture her in this photo...and then be able to paint it. It made me think of her life as a journey, and that she was nearing the end of it. She was eagerly looking forward for the journey to end, so she could reach her final destination on that Glory Train.

The first time I saw in the spirit, I saw a horse. The Lord let me look into its eyes. This one looks like he is turning toward the light, and it speaks to me of revelation.
It is harvest time! This painting makes me think of the Great Harvest coming to God's Kingdom. Gathering up all the children still in the fields, the joy it will bring the Jesus to have us all in His arms! I worked as a florist at one time, but would get so sad watching the flowers die, it just made me think of all the lost souls that didn't know Jesus. This arrangement contains some of my favorites; double lisianthus, hydrangeas, and seeded eucalyptus.
